Gates

Gates (portals) open around the city and lead to random dungeons with a boss at the end. None opens inside the Shinjuku barrier; their rank depends on the distance from it: the further out, the higher the rank, the bigger the portal and the harder the dungeon.

Some gates are corrupted: never rank E ones, always rank S ones, the rest 25% of the time; you only find out on entering. In a corrupted gate there is no entrance portal, the only way out before the boss is a return crystal, which is used up, and there is no contact with the outside (world and guild chat, whispers, invitations); nearby and party chat between those inside still work. Any other gate can be left for free whenever you like, through the entrance portal or by pressing the mount key 4 times. After the boss the exit portal opens and the gate closes.

Greyed-out ranks do not open yet.

The recommended power is that of a typical character at the rank’s lowest level, with uncommon gear of that level and its stat points assigned; if yours is lower, the entry prompt tells you.

Permits are not sold: the first of the party to enter an open gate pays its price, which covers the whole party for as long as the gate stays open, re-entries included. You need the Flan for the price to enter; rank E gates are free.

A return crystal costs 50,000 Flan from Silvano Gorgonzola, one a day per character (two for premium accounts).

Higher gates carry weekly modifiers: see Weekly affixes.

Variants

Every gate rolls a variant from its seed: 5% are mana gates at any rank, and each other variant open at a rank gets an equal share of the rest.

Golden portal

When the boss of a gate above rank E falls, there is a 10% chance that a free golden portal opens next to the exit: it leads one rank higher (or, past the last open rank, to the same rank with monsters ×1.5 stronger). Behind every golden portal waits Kinryū, the Golden Dragon, at level 30 (behind a portal of rank B or higher, at that rank's boss level: B 38, A 48, S 58), on its hoard.

Mining

Every gate grows veins of mana crystals on the walls of its rooms, never in the entrance room or the boss’s. To dig them you need the magical pickaxe from Sergio Piccone the miner, in the market (20,000 Flan), worn in the tool slot of the inventory.

Walk up to a vein and press F: digging takes 10 s. Stand still until it is done: moving, dodging, jumping, mounting, using an ability, taking damage or pressing F again stops it, and you start over. One hunter at a time digs a vein.

A vein can be dug once per gate, by whoever gets there first; then it goes dull for everyone. Its crystals all share one rarity, shown by its colour, and go to your bag; with a full bag they drop by the vein, reserved for you a while.

The higher the rank, the more veins and the rarer the crystals:

A3–62–3--10%55%33%2%
S4–82–3---40%50%10%

Mana gates (5% of gates, any rank) hold three times the veins of their rank.

Clear the room before digging: a single hit stops the dig. In a party, one digs while the others keep watch.

Only Silvano Gorgonzola buys mana crystals: Common Mana Crystal 1,000 Flan, Uncommon Mana Crystal 2,500 Flan, Rare Mana Crystal 5,000 Flan, Epic Mana Crystal 10,000 Flan, Legendary Mana Crystal 50,000 Flan, Mythic Mana Crystal 100,000 Flan each. They are also needed for Rosalia Camomilla’s potions, Alessandro Ferrarini’s forge and rerolls (one crystal of the piece’s rarity).

The pickaxe: Magical Pickaxe. Crystals: Common Mana Crystal, Uncommon Mana Crystal, Rare Mana Crystal, Epic Mana Crystal, Legendary Mana Crystal, Mythic Mana Crystal.
